In order to better serve the new type of major-country diplomacy and international industrial layout cooperation, expand the international cooperation network, and promote cooperation and exchanges with countries along the “Belt and Road”, Wang Zhenhong, Party Committee Secretary of Jinhua University of Vocational Technology, led a delegation to visit Uzbekistan and Türkiye from April 7 to 14, to advance the university's scientific and educational cooperation and cultural exchanges with the Central and West Asian regions.
The China (Jinhua) – Uzbekistan Economic and Trade Cooperation Consultation was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on April 8. Leaders including Zhu Zhonglie, Secretary of the Jinhua Municipal Committee, and Sharipov, Deputy Governor of Tashkent Region, attended the consultation and delivered speeches. During the consultation, the university signed a cooperation agreement with Zhejiang Holley Global Co., Ltd., under the witness of leaders from both sides, and jointly unveiled the “China-Uzbekistan Holtas Workshop”. Relying on the Holley·Central Asia Holtas Industrial Park, the two parties will adopt an integrated “industrial park + university” model to conduct practical cooperation in areas such as skills talent training, Chinese language education exchange, collaborative innovation in industry-university-research, and the establishment of internship and employment platforms, to serve the industrial development of the park and the surrounding regions.
The delegation visited Tashkent State Transport University and held talks with Said Shaumarov Sanatovich, Vice-Rector of Tashkent State Transport University. Wang Zhenhong introduced the school’s development and internationalization efforts, and emphasized that both institutions should actively respond to the Belt and Road Initiative, jointly promote cooperation in the field of vocational education, and take practical actions to enhance the mutual understanding between China and Uzbekistan. Said Shaumarov Sanatovich suggested that both sides could fully leverage their respective strengths to conduct cooperation in areas such as e-commerce, new energy vehicles, and aviation engineering technology, including student exchanges, joint faculty research, and resource development. During the meeting, the two parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement and unveiled the “Silk Road Jinhua College”, marking the beginning of a new chapter of cooperation between the two universities.
During the visit to Türkiye, the delegation visited Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University and held in-depth discussions with Semih Aktekin, Rector of Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University, on topics such as professional talent cultivation and academic research cooperation. The two parties reached an important consensus on jointly establishing the “China-Türkiye Tourism and Culture Research Center”. Wang Zhenhong and Rector Semih Aktekin signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of their respective institutions, marking the beginning of a new chapter of practical cooperation between the two universities.
At the same time, the delegation visited the Tourism Research Institute of Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University. The deans of the Culture and Tourism College and the Tourism Research Institute of Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University, along with Associate Professor Sema Gökenç Gülez from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, jointly unveiled the “Chinese + Vocational Skills” Education Development Center. In the future, the two universities will rely on this platform to actively promote innovative cooperation in the field of cultural tourism and jointly establish the China-Türkiye Tourism and Culture Research Center.
After the meeting, Wang Zhenhong, on behalf of the university, held a discussion with student representatives from Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University who will visit the university for academic exchange in June. He welcomed Turkish youth to study and exchange at the university, addressed their concerns one by one, and encouraged them to become ambassadors of Sino-Turkish cultural exchange. The university will also continue to build platforms for cross-cultural dialogue to facilitate exchanges between young people from both countries.
The delegation visited Okan University, where they held a discussion with Vice-Rector Gökçe Tunç and conducted on-site research at the university's Faculty of Medicine and Confucius Institute. Both sides explored future cooperation in the fields of joint talent cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, and medical education and research, and reached a consensus on signing a memorandum of understanding.
During the visit, the delegation also surveyed and visited institutions and enterprises such as Holley Tech’s Uzbekistan Factory, the Holley·Central Asia Holtas Industrial Park, Tashkent State Medical University, Samarkand University of Architecture, and Nisantasi University. They reached a consensus on multiple aspects, including students coming to China for study, “Chinese + Vocational Skills” education and training, and the construction of international research platforms.
The visit was also attended by relevant personnels from the Development Planning and Local Cooperation Department, International Cooperation and Exchanges Department, Medical College, and Culture and Tourism College.
