Vice President Zhang Yanping Led an Educational Delegation to Visit Rwanda and Tanzania

To further deepen and expand vocational education cooperation with Africa, Vice President Zhang Yanping led a 6-member education delegation from Jinhua Polytechnic to Rwanda and Tanzania from March 26th to April 3rd for a working visit.

On March 28th, the Jinhua-Rwanda Deepening Vocational Education Cooperation Signing Ceremony and Opening Ceremony for international students were held in Musanze, Rwanda. During the ceremony, the Ambassador of China to Rwanda, Wang Xuekun, Rwandan State Minister for Education, Claudette, Secretary of Jinhua Municipal Committee of CPC,Zhu Chonglie, and the Chief Principal of Rwanda Polytechnic, Sylvie,each delivered a speech, and Zhang Yanping gave an opening mobilization speech. The Executive Secretary of the Northern Province of Rwanda, Nzabonimpa, the Mayor of Musanze, Claudien, and the President of Musanze Vocational and Technical College, Emile, were also in attendance.

Under the witness of government leaders from both sides, Zhang Yanping and Sylvie, on behalf of Jinhua Polytechnic and Rwanda Polytechnic respectively, signed the Agreement on Continuing the Construction of the Luban Workshop and Vocational Education and Training Cooperation,and awarded honorary certificates to the outstanding international students coming to China. This signing event marks the beginning of a new stage in educational cooperation between the two places. Jinhua Polytechnic will further focus on cultivating more skilled talents in areas urgently needed by the Rwandan side, help enhance the employment competitiveness of local youth, provide talent support for China-Africa international industrial capacity cooperation and Rwanda's economic and social development, and promote cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between China and Africa so as to better contribute to building a high-level of China-Africa community with a shared future.

During the visit, the delegation also visited the University of Rwanda, the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, and the State University of Zanzibar, as well as the Confucius Institutes. Both sides focused on the promotion of Chinese Language + Vocational Skills education in Africa within the framework of serving national strategy and China-Africa Cooperation Forum, and had in-depth exchanges on how to give full play to their respective resources and advantages, cooperate in establishing platforms and bases for Chinese Language + Vocational Skills education, co-build standard resources, mutual teaching assistance, and team sharing, integrating international Chinese and vocational education to form a joint force and effect of vocational education going overseas.

The delegation also visited the Rwanda office of China Road and Bridge Corporation and the China-Tanzania National Industrial Park. The school and enterprise sides conducted in-depth exchanges and docking on the integration of industry and education, talent cultivation, and internships and employment, and reached certain consensus on the promotion of integration of industry-education counterparts, localized labor force training, and the construction of overseas internship bases and some on. The two sides look forward to continuous strengthening of industrial capacity cooperation with Rwanda and Tanzania through the diverse collaboration of government, schools, and enterprises, and jointly promoting local economic development and the friendly relations between China, Rwanda, and Tanzania, and striving to achieve a higher level of mutual benefit and win-win situation.

During the stay in Rwanda, the delegation attended the signing ceremony of the agreement to establish a friendly city relationship between Jinhua and Musanze. The visit aimed to further promote the school's vocational education cooperation and co-construction with Africa, expand the Chinese Language + Vocational Skills education program, enhance mutual trust and win-win situation, deepen traditional friendship, and promote high-quality development of China-Africa vocational education with pragmatic measures.

The relevant leaders and personnel from the school's International Cooperation Office, Personnel Office, School of Architectural Engineering, Wuyi College and related personnel accompanied the visit.
